I’ve never been one for the old ball and chain.  In fact, I prefer my liberated independence to a humdrum boy or monotonous man any day.  It’s not that I don’t have faith in falling in love or being in a relationship of sorts – I simply choose to believe that you can only truly count on yourself.   But every once in a while, you find someone special who acts unlike a ball and chain, and rather, brings you to a Bondage Ball (with chains) the day before our country’s independence.

The timing seemed impeccably perfect to celebrate our country’s freedom as well as the freedom commonly associated with the ever eccentric, ever autonomous BDSM Community.  The Belasco in Hollywood welcomed sexual adventurists of all breeds for over six hours of fetish play, kinky kisses, much needed debauchery, and the binds of bondage, and needless to say, it was amazing.

Over 500 people gathered from all over the world to attend the Bondage Ball, a five-story revelry for the sake of sexual freedom.  Each floor was unique in it’s own with means to bind and couples bound.  Rope demonstrations took place while fashion shows were underway.  In fact, our very own Ruby Luster walked for the progressive corset designer, Puimond.  Other artists present were Black Licorice Latex and Abigail Greydanus, two designers known for their original work in latex and styling of Katy Perry.

Hosted by international fetish models Masuimi Max, Mosh, Emily Marilyn, and Perish, the Bondage Ball presented its attendees with all the bells and whistles needed to truly celebrate the freedom to be enslaved.  The entire experience demanded the celebration of BDSM lifestyle not only once a year, but daily.  Perhaps that’s what I took most from the experience – the need to perpetuate unadultured passion regardless of its form.  We must honor the handprints on the back of our asses and the red marks across our thighs because fundamentally, sex bruises are the best bruises.

Yours truly,
