ra_huffWhen it comes to searching for news on the Internet, I tend to look at CNN.com, DailyBeast.com, and of course, HuffingtonPost.com.  They all give fairly balanced info, but every now and then, there’s everyday bullshit mixed in.  Is this strange form of “serious news” the future of journalism?

Due to technology and web design, HuffingtonPost.com fill their pages with nonsense as a means to take up space.  A serious article about problems in the middle east is just one column away from Miley Cyrus’ twerking incident.  Next to that is a story about a sleazy politician, and next to that is an article about Kim Kardashian’s side boob.  I do see what they’re doing – using stupid to sell smart – but it doesn’t make it any less irritating.

I also question if everything in the world has turned into entertainment.  The news and porn are both money-making industries that provide entertainment to the public.  Sure, they differ in many ways.  But the underlying theme is money.  And that seems to be what drives the Huffington Post as well.

I wish there was a way to separate the stupid from the serious, but I think that day is long gone.  Thanks HuffPost for screwing everything up.
